1-20-10

1-20-10

Well this week I received a mini missionary... what does that mean? It means we are
a threesome, and the mini is not a real missionary, she is just here for a little bit of time, usually we only have minis when there aren't enough missionaries, but she and her friend want to serve missions and wanted to see what it was like, so they are here for a week and a half, her friend is in Nunez, and she is here with me and Hermana Mora, so I'm training her for a week and a half, she got here Friday and will be leaving Tuesday, she is really sweet, but having her around is a bit stressful because she doesn't know anything about being a missionary, and so she doesn't wake up at 630 or go to bed at 1030, and she didn't bring any clothes appropriate for a sister missionary, but she is very willing to learn and obey, so once we explain things to her she starts to do things right, but it is really stressful!
That is really all that is going on here, we have transfers next week so p'day will be on Tuesday, and then after that it will be on Monday forever... I'm really really sad about that because having p'day on wed is so much easier... but whatever I have to trust my president is inspired!
We are still looking for more investigators, we don't have any! We are still
teaching Celeste, but she is still fighting to give up smoking, she really wants to and has desire, but it is so hard... any ideas for giving up smoking?
Welp sorry but I don't have much more to say, next week will be my last transfers of the mission, everyone says Hermana Mora will be going to a different area, please pray with me that that doesn't happen, I don't want to end my mission with a new companion, I'm praying as hard as I can that she stays here!
Welp gotta run, love ya'll

Freaking Coackroaches!!!!

Sorry for my french... haha Ok so this week was filled with cockroaches, cockroaches oh and just a bit more cockroaches... I love this area and the people here, but seriously I'm beginning to think it might not be worth it, the apt is so disgusting, and it isn't because we don't clean, oh no we clean... ALOT!! The other day I suggested we clean off the shelves in our kitchen because there was a lot of stuff on there we didn't use or should prob be thrown out... we put all our food in bags and but them in another room... then the fun began, I'm pretty sure we killed like a million cockroaches, and their babies and their eggs... it was so disgusting, they were big ones too... not as big as the one in my apt in Louisville, but still big!! We told our zone leader about it and he will see what
he can do, when we complained about it earlier they said just use raid, well that is what we did and it kept getting worse and worse, we also have someone come once a month to fumigate, it doesn't do anything, and then we bought some kind of gel, and well that helped a little, until the day we cleaned our shelves, now they are going to try and see what they can do! Also right before we came to do internet I was looking under some books on my desk and found a family living under them... I'm so sick of cockroaches!!!
Ok so enough about that, the work is going good, we had a baptism on Saturday, Monica was finally baptized, it was a really sweet service, and her daughter who tells us she wants nothing to do with the church came to support her mom, and it looked like she was really touched by the spirit, she also came to church on Sunday to see the confirmation!! And lets talk about how great this ward is, Monica already has home teachers, and they came to her baptism and let her know if she needed anything to call them! I love Almagro!! Well with the baptism of Monica we have lost all our investigators that can be baptized, we still have investigators, but they all need to get married first, and well that is a complicated process here in Argentina!! So we are now focusing really hard on finding new people to teach, pray for us, it is really hard to find here in capital! We did find one guy, he was an old investigator a year ago, he is a really good guy, married with 2 kids, he told us the missionaries came once and then never called again, I have no idea why... he is awesome, he read the folleto we left him, and told us all about it and then we taught him lesson 1 and he prayed on his knees at the end... men hardly ever do that! I'm excited about him, his wife isn't that interested, she is friendly but doesn't sit in on our lessons, pray for her too!!
Welp that is all I have time for, but I hope you all are doing well and I miss you all...
thanks for the emails and all your support...

Love you all

Happy Wise Men's Day!!!

Yeah so here in Argentina they celebrate wise men's day, the 6th of Jan. they celebrate when the wise men visited Christ, and kids here get presents and stuff like that just like Christmas, I still don't really understand, but hey here in Argentina there is a holiday every week it seems like!
Wep I don't really have much time to write, I need to run, I want to sleep a bit today!! But since I just wrote you all on Friday there isn't much to write. We had a baptism on Saturday, it was a nice like service, we didn't have very many people come but it was still nice. We have another baptism this Saturday and we are working hard trying to invite everyone so we can have a lot of people! Also we have lost a few of our investigators, the ones that we were working with the most, so we are now trying to find more, it is really difficult to find new investigators here in capital, no one stops to listen to us on the street, the only way to find new people is when members give us referrals, pray that we get some good ones soon please!!
Welp that is all I got for this week, thanks for all your love and prayers, I love all of you!!

Happy New Year 2010!!!!

1-1-10

Wow can you all believe that we are in 2010??? I cant believe it, I remember last year being in my first area thinking that 2010 would never come, and well come it has... time just keeps flying by, does it ever slow down??
Well I must say I was so happy to talk to you all last week, It has made me so happy this last week... every time I think about the phone call I just smile, I just love my family, I'm pretty sure I have the best family in the world! One of my favorite parts of the phone call was when Rachel talked to me... she doesn't even remember who I am, but I was so excited to hear her sweet voice!!
So this past week we haven't really been doing too much, just the same old preaching the gospel! We have a baptism this weekend, he turns out to be a member of one of the families that would always feed us in Liniers (mama rosa... arroz y arroz y mas arroz), que tal? He is alienated from the family and refuses to invite them, it is a pretty messed up fam, but hey at least he wants to get baptized. Actually he was baptized before but the bishop cant locate his records anywhere, so well he is getting baptized again, what an opportunity!! And well we have another baptism for this next Saturday (the 9th) she is really excited about her baptism, we have been working with her since before I got here and well she is finally getting baptized!! YAY!Well sorry but I cant think of much else to write, life has been kind of boring the past few weeks, I cant wait until things get back to normal... oh speaking of back to normal, p'day is back to being on Wednesday, so please write me... this week I only got a letter from mom and Jarrod... I like emails please don't forget about me!! welp I gotta run... love you all LOTS!!
